To a lot of folks the cross is hard to understand. They know it happened, but they don’t understand it’s importance. Follow me then, as we see why it took place. Who knows, as we continue together, new concepts will emerge.
A lot of individuals have a hard time understanding sin. They understand certain of the Bible verses, sure. They get the idea of doing wrong, but why must people be punished for it by God? To wrap our heads around why we must get to know God. Righteous is our God and in Him is no sin. No unholy thing can stand in His presence. Sin has been permitted in the short term, but not for long.
Jesus seeks for us to use our will. But because the first man sinned, we all have been taught how to sin. That means we never learned how to use our free will correctly. What this means is that because God is holy, no one will be able to stand before Him.
So, with that in mind, Jesus Christ came to this earth. Not to mention Jesus Christ came down to earth understanding exactly what He needed to do. It should be stated that He is the Second Person of the Trinity and has the power to act on our behalf. Jesus helped us by taking our place in our sins. Because He lived a sinless life, He should not have died. Yet His sacrifice meant He died for all of us.
The lynch pin in the matter is our will. The particular Bible verses certainly tell us of your free will. God still wants us to use our free will. With salvation, we can still choose to accept it or reject it. We must do our part and take hold of it.
So we may have been handed rebellion through our genes. And not one of us can escape its grasp. But through Jesus Christ, we have been handed a way out. Through Adam we were handed death and through Jesus we have been handed life.
The choice has always been yours and will always be yours. God will never make a choice for you, He will only tell you which is the best choice. What has been given to us we must accept out of free will. Once a person says yes to Jesus then they will be able to grab hold of eternal life. If we do not say yes to all that He has for us, then we will not receive the gift of life. Let us therefore really take hold of everything that Jesus did for us so that eternal life will be ours.
