Anti Snoring Devices

If your spouse has problems in snoring, it’s your problem too. If you are a light sleeper, you will definitely not have enough restful sleep while your spouse is snoring in his sleep. Snoring is caused when the air ways are blocked, partial blockage of the sinus passages, poor muscle of the throat and tongue, and obesity which is the most common.

Many solutions and treatments have been tried to resolve snoring. Some of these anti snoring devices are found effective but not true to all people who are snoring. So you must bring first your spouse to the doctor and find out its specific cause before you try any of the methods and devices for snoring.

Behavioral modifications and improved lifestyles are said to be effective to stop snoring. Obesity is one of the main causes of snoring and losing weight is the solution.

Weight loss is gerat for your general well-being and not merely to stop your snoring. To avoid smoking and alcohol can help to solve the snoring concern since these two are also major causes of snoring.

If it is caused by any of those that belong to the behavioral changes, then maybe it is the partial blockage or narrowing of the airways that may be caused by the palate or the tongue falling back while you’re asleep. Snoring devices that are suited for this problem are called dental devices. Much like a mouthpiece, these dental devices are said to reduce the snoring by around 70-90%. You can however find some feedbacks about the device.. This should be worn every night and this keeps the mouth open which may leave the person using the device feeling uncomfortable.

For people who have narrow nasal passages, medication and nasal devices can decrease snoring. Breath-rite strips can help but not at all times, if the area of the narrowing is the front part of the nose. If the nasal mucosa is swelling because of allergy or irritation, a decongestant nasal spray will be of use. This type of causative agent that brings about snoring is temporary and easy to treat.

Another tool is called the Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) This is normally recommended to people who have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. The person is to wear a mask wiht a tube connected to a pump and keep the pressure of air at a higher level. The pressure will prevent the airway from getting narrow during inhaling and exhaling. The person using the device can adjust the pressure. The person though may find the CPAP noisy, bulky, and uncomfortable to use each night.

You can find other OTC or oevr the counter anti snoring devices available but some are not proven medically yet and thus are not recommendable for your snoring problem.
